A pair of football rivals separated by only three miles met for a second time this season on Friday, Nov. 15 but this time the winner claims the Class 6, District 6 championship. The Lee’s Summit North Broncos secured the title on their home field with a 29-15 victory over the Lee’s Summit Tigers.
The Broncos had all 15 points scored in the second half and remained undefeated on the 2024 season at 11-0. Following the win LS North first year head coach Jason Rogers commented it’s “a big deal.” Rogers on the latest accomplishment by the team “something we really, really worked hard for.” Rogers adds “shows how well our coaches work together. It’s a blessing to be here.”
Having wins over teams located in three different states and now two wins over top ten ranked Lee’s Summit coach Rogers gives credit to “our preparation, our focus on the right now.” Rogers calls Lee’s Summit head coach Todd Miller “a really good guy.” The Tigers finished its season at 8-3 with two losses due to LS North.
To win 11 straight games the Broncos have played well and overcome many challenges. Coach Rogers says the Broncos “operate as a team, guys rally around each other.” Rogers gives credit for the success to “the way we prepare, have an experienced coaching staff.”
The Broncos have won the Big 8 Gold Conference title and now own the District 6 championship plaque. Up next is a Class 6 state quarterfinal round game vs Nixa. No matter the result it will serve as the final home game for the Broncos. With a win over Nixa the Broncos will travel to play the Jackson/Kirkwood winner in a state semifinal game. The state championship game is set for Friday, Dec. 6 at Mizzou’s Faurot Field with kickoff at 7 p.m. For now the undefeated Broncos focus is on the right now which has served them well all season.
