As the regular season draws to a close for the NFL and teams are battling to go to Super Bowl LVIII, one Lee’s Summit teen has already guaranteed his spot in Las Vegas on February 11.

Isaac Murdock was recently surprised by Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes with a pair of tickets to the championship game.

Murdock, born with a rare spinal defect, was asked to come to the Chiefs’ practice facility to film what he thought was going to be a commercial for Mahomes and the Variety Children’s Charity of Greater Kansas City (Variety KC), a local nonprofit supporting children with disabilities.

Instead, he was interrupted during the shooting by Mahomes and presented with oversized Super Bowl tickets and an autographed football on behalf of Mahomes and his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.

“I realize how blessed I am to be able to go out and play football and follow my dreams,” Mahomes said in the video recorded for the NFL Network. “Not everyone gets those same opportunities.”

“You don’t know which kid’s going to impact the world in a positive way, and you want to make sure every kid has those opportunities,” he said.

Patrick Mahomes is the team’s nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award to be announced at the NFL Honors Ceremony on Monday, Jan. 8.
