The Lee’s Summit West Titans boys soccer team is set to leave town at 8 a.m. on Friday morning Nov. 22 for a trip not many thought was possible at the start of the season. The Titans are headed to Fenton, MO. to play in the Class 4 Soccer State Championships. Titans Head Coach Chris Brizendine said the team “lost a few games to start.” Titans began the year 2-4, they made some changes defensively and held open conversations with players and coaches. Since then they are 17-1. The Titans advanced to the State Final Four by beating Jefferson City 1-0 on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Titans, now 19-5, meet city rival Lee’s Summit (21-0) at 6:30 p.m. Friday night in the second semi-final game in Class 4. The Titans/Tigers winner will play at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night against the Lindbergh/DeSmet winner. No matter what happens on Friday night it’s guaranteed that a Lee’s Summit team will play for the State Title.
Coach Brizendine feels both the Titans and Tigers making up 1/2 of the State Final Four is “great for the community and the LSR7 district.” Brizendine spoke about the challenge of his next opponent saying “Lee’s Summit is a tremendous team.” The Titans, according to their head coach, are “playing well together, they celebrate success together.” Coach Brizendine adds he is “really proud of the players.” “Looking forward to making the trip to St. Louis on Friday.”
The host site of the boys soccer state championships is Worldwide Technology Sports Park located in Fenton, Missouri and seats 5,500. The semi-final round games will be played at 3:30 and at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22. The third place game is set for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday with the championship game to follow at 6:30 p.m.
