The Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council is pleased to announce the hiring of Teresa Evans as Interim Executive Director.
Evans brings over 19 years of experience in economic development serving the communities of Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, and the State of Missouri. Evans served as Vice President of the LSEDC for more than 11 years. At the community level, her primary focus was on supporting existing business, workforce development and quality of life initiatives. A champion of historic downtown areas, she served on Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs committee and board positions to enhance downtown growth and sustainability.
She is a graduate of Leadership Lee’s Summit and LEADership Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce programs. Most recently, Evans worked for the State of Missouri Department of Economic Development as a project manager, promoting and facilitating DED programs to communities and businesses in the five count Kansas City region.
Evans served as Treasurer/Secretary to the Eastern Jackson County Development Alliance. She holds the Business Retention and Expansion International BREP certification; and has been highly active in the leadership of this professional organization serving on the Board of Directors and as President. Evans has also maintained professional organization memberships with the Missouri Economic Development Council and the International Council for Economic Development.
Evans received her Associate of Arts degree (with honors) from the Metropolitan Community College – Longview, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) from Park University.
As the interim Executive Director, Evans’ scope of work includes implementing the economic development strategic plan, internal and external communication strategies, and building peer trust with public and private partners.
