The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District is planning an April 2025 no tax rate increase bond issue to address necessary facility needs while maintaining the current tax rate for debt service.
The following projects will be recommended to the Board of Education for consideration on December 19:
- Greenwood Elementary (New School)
- Hazel Grove Elementary (New School)
- Westview Elementary (Renovation)
- Pleasant Lea Middle School (Renovation)
- Miller Park Center (Renovation)
- High School Baseball & Softball Fields (LSN/LSW)
- High School Soccer/Band Fields (All High Schools)
- Aerospace Hangar
Additionally, the recommendations include allocations for deferred maintenance, equipment replacements, classroom furniture, and safety/security measures benefiting all schools.
The Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) has also recommended that the district ask voters to consider a full Proposition C waiver on the April ballot to support staff salaries. Proposition C is a statewide tax approved by Missouri voters in the early 1980s. This 1-cent sales tax was dedicated to public school districts, and local districts were required to roll back their levy in an amount based on how much money each district received from ½ cent of the Prop C revenue. LSR7 has a partial waiver but still experiences revenues losses of more than $3.5 million a year without a full waiver. The Board would also consider this recommendation in the formal vote on December 19.
