22nd annual pancake breakfast set for February 23; funds to benefit community

In a twist on a longstanding community fundraiser, organizers of the annual Lee’s Summit Social Services Pancake Breakfast are inviting all Lee’s Summit fire and police personnel to join them at no charge this year.

The 22nd annual pancake breakfast is set for Saturday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in downtown at 2 NE Douglas St, Lee’s Summit Mo, 64063. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children.

“Our police and fire women and men do so much for us in and around Lee’s Summit, we thought what better way to say ‘thank you’ than to have them out for a stack of pancakes,” Lee’s Summit Social Services Director Matt Sanning said. “It’s a small token, but I sincerely hope many of them will join us and the community that morning.”

One of the largest annual fundraisers for LSSS, the breakfast has hosted thousands of attendees over the years. Funds from the event will directly support the communities served by LSSS, including in the form of utility and rent assistance.

“Each year we are able to welcome so many members of our community to have breakfast and share in the goals and mission of Lee’s Summit Social Services,” Sanning said. “We are grateful to our sponsors, our donors and our volunteers that drive this organization that serves so many in and around Lee’s Summit.”

Sponsorships are still available for the breakfast. A pancake sponsorship of $250 includes the sponsor’s name or logo displayed on the placemats at the event. A table sponsorship of $500 provides a whole table with the name or logo of the individual or business. Any donation is welcome.
