
Marilyn Sue (Raupp) Boone, age 84, of Laurie, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas, at KU Medical Center on August 7, 1940, to Robert Otto Raupp and Marilyn Virginia (Miller) Raupp Sandbrook.
Sue married the love of her life, David in Kansas City, Missouri on June 27, 1958. Together they had five children: David Daniel Boone (Jane) of Branson, Missouri, Timothy Eugene Boone of Odessa, Missouri, Kenneth William Boone (Sharon) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Benjamin Thompson Boone (Ann) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Rebecca Marilyn Bartlett (Tim) of Gravois Mills, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Sue enjoyed writing and was manager of her high school yearbook and later served as a reporter for Lake Lotawana News and the Lee’s Summit Journal. In 1967, Sue started Boone Preschool in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Sue pursued her love of children by teaching early childhood learning for over 30 years. She would sell Boone Preschool in 1994 and retire. Sue and Dave moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and became active members of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705 in Laurie, serving as past president of Lady Elks. After retirement, she was also involved in local preschools and was a past Director of Mother’s Day Out.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marcia Lynn Sandbrook Rogers. In addition to her husband, David Boone, she is survived by her children and grandchildren and her sisters, Deborah Sandbrook Ritz of Prairie Village, Kansas, Cheryl Raupp Smith of Houston, Texas and Cindy Raupp Giddings of Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her memory be made to Livabilities, a building community for special needs adults, Livabilities.org.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24th, at the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a celebration lunch at the Elks Lodge in Laurie.
