Join Mayor Baird at 6:30 p.m. on November 22nd in Howard Station Park for the annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting in Downtown Lee’s Summit. Dozens of locally-owned shops and restaurants will stay open late for you to enjoy holiday shopping and dining before or after the program.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m., and will feature not one, but two special guests from the North Pole to help welcome the holiday season in Lee’s Summit. Santa’s right hand man, Buddy the Elf, will be here to help Mayor Baird flip the switch to light Downtown Lee’s Summit in over 100,000 sparkling lights! Free cookies and keepsake ornaments will be available while supplies last. Be sure to pickup the free coloring book published by the Lee’s Summit Tribune.
Codie Allen from 106.5 The Wolf will emcee the event as Buddy the Elf leads the crowd in welcoming our next special guest, Santa! Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their grand entrance at 7:00 p.m. and then stay for photos with children until 8:30 p.m. before they journey back up to the North Pole. Be sure to bring the kiddos and a camera for some photos with Santa!
The Mayor’s Tree Lighting is hosted by Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, the City of Lee’s Summit, and presented by Security Bank of Kansas City. Special guest, Buddy the Elf, made possible by the generous support of Paradise Park. Special thanks to our Spirit of Community sponsor, Cosentino’s Price Chopper and our supporting sponsors, GEHA, Jason Langston Farmers Insurance, Midwest Property Resources, and Summit Video Services for helping make this family tradition possible.
Every year, Downtown Lee’s Summit captures the magic of the holidays with this tradition in the central business district and the lights remain on through the first week in January.
