The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and partners will offer a free Get Outdoors! event 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, along the shores of Lake Remembrance at the Gregory O. Grounds Park in Blue Springs. All ages are welcome for nature and outdoor skills sessions in a program offered by MDC, Blue Springs Parks and Recreation, and Jackson County Parks + Rec.
Visitors can try out activities such as kayaking, fishing, birding, archery, and outdoor yoga. MDC will provide the equipment. Naturalists will give presentations on wild edible plants and nature’s sometimes avoided creatures such as snakes, spiders, and insects.
The park can be accessed from Interstate 70 via N.E. Adams Dairy Parkway and N.E. Jefferson Street. It is on the north side of I-70.
Registration is not required. For more information, call MDC’s Burr Oak Woods Nature Center at 816-228-3766.
