One new addition to the Kansas City Mavericks roster this season already has a Kelly Cup on his resume and is ready to win another one while enjoying some great barbecue on the side.

Giorgio Estephan comes to the Mavericks ready for his third season in the ECHL after playing with the Newfoundland Growlers.
Geo, as he is called by his new teammates, loves barbecue so his stay in Kansas City will include stops at the many places that offer this food group. Giorgio Loves the menu item so much that he admits former teammates have called him “a big foodie.”
The 23-year-old forward hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where his family has lived for a long time. Geo’s younger brother, mom and dad all follow his progress in the ECHL throughout the season. To no one’s surprise Giorgio’s favorite pro sports team is the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers as they served to be his childhood team. Thanks to Geo’s mom he put on his first pair of skates at just two years old. Giorgio said it happened at a free skate event in his hometown.

The right-hander’s favorite hockey memory so far is playing for a Memorial Cup in his native country. Another memory that rates pretty high is winning the Kelly Cup while with the Growlers in 2018-19 season. A career highlight that is worth mentioning is Geo being a sixth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2015 draft.
If not in pro hockey today Giorgio feels he would be in medicine helping people. Geo’s favorite sports movie is the hockey-themed “Miracle” as he likes the “action type of movies.” Following his playing days Giorgio hopes to be “seen as a hard worker.” Geo is wishing those days don’t arrive until after his stint in the National Hockey League which is his dream.
Check out Giorgio and the rest of the Mavericks when they take the ice on Tuesday, Jan. 5 to host their rival Wichita Thunder. The fun begins inside the Cable Dahmer Arena when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
