The public is invited to attend the Missouri Department of Transportation’s 12th annual Big Truck Night from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at its District Office at 600 NE Colbern Road in Lee’s Summit, MO.
“Big Truck Night is a great way to educate the public about the work MoDOT employees do for motorists every day, and having it during National Public Work Week (May 19-25) gives us a chance to recognize their hard work as well,” said MoDOT KC District Engineer Brian Kidwell.
Big Truck Night gives people of all ages the opportunity to see MoDOT equipment up close and speak directly to some of the department’s employees. Visitors can tour maintenance trucks and other equipment, play games, see various demonstrations including the bomb squad, meet Buckle Bear and Barrel Bob, local law enforcement, and other guests. The goal of the event is to educate attendees on how important safety is to everyone working on our nation’s roadways, as well as motorists.
“Our ultimate goal every day is to get everyone to their destination safely – whether that be those traveling in our area or our workers on the roadways,” Kidwell said.
