The building signage at 1626 E. Elm St. in Harrisonville has changed, and so have the color of the scrubs worn by the RN Case Managers and Hospice Aides. But the most important thing remains unchanged: the local hospice team caring for patients in Cass and Jackson counties.

In June, the hospice agency formerly called Serenity Care Hospice joined the St. Croix Hospice family. The Harrisonville-based Serenity became St. Croix Hospice’s first branch in Missouri (St. Croix Hospice also has branches in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin).

“Patients in our community can count on the same hospice team they know and trust,” says Stephanie Clark, Regional Director of Clinical Operations. “As always, we help members of our community approach the end of life with comfort and dignity.”

Hospice care is for individuals with medical diagnoses such as cancer, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, heart disease and many other life-limiting conditions. Any person with a life expectancy of six months or less is eligible to begin hospice services, which include physical, emotional and spiritual support as well as bereavement support for families after a loved one’s death.

“Quality of life is our focus in hospice,” explains Clark. “We want to help patients and their families make the most of their remaining time together.”

St. Croix Hospice in Harrisonville is available 24/7 at 816-380-3913. Care is provided wherever patients call home including private residences, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

“Anyone can make a hospice referral, whether a patient’s primary doctor or their loved one,” adds Clark. “We are proud to deliver hospice care when members of our communities need us.”
