On Apr. 27, 2024, the Lee’s Summit Prairie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated their 50th anniversary of their organizational meeting on Jan. 5, 1974.
Prairie Chapter was the ninety-third chapter to be formed in the state of Missouri. The anniversary event was held at the Raymore Missouri Centerview Community Center.
The celebration was attended by chapter members, past Regents, and past and present state officers of the MSSDAR. The Lee’s Summit High School AF ROTC presented Colors followed by the Ray-Pec High School Singers who performed the National Anthem. The program included the DAR ritual and a Proclamation presentation by Raymore Mayor Kristopher Turnbow. Proclamations were also received by Lee’s Summit and Peculiar. The Ray-Pec Singers performed two other patriotic songs before hearing from some of the past Chapter Regents who shared their experiences. Refreshments were served after the formal program was completed. Chapter scrapbooks highlighting events and photos from the 50 year period were also on display.
