Quincy University recently hosted its Winter Commencement ceremony in QU’s Pepsi Arena in the Health and Fitness Center. The 2024 winter graduating class was comprised of 43 undergraduates and 12 graduate degree recipients including Aries Brown of Kansas City who earned a Bachelor of Arts of General Studies degree.

Sarah Vordtriede-Patton, PhD, provost and vice president for academic affairs, convened the ceremony. Brian McGee, PhD, president of Quincy University, delivered the commencement address. McGee’s theme centered on the question of the graduates’ future happiness, encouraging the graduates to choose joy in all their endeavors and to focus on their accomplishments, not those of others. McGee observed, “In the end, joy will come when we recognize when we have done our best without comparing ourselves to others.”
