On Wednesday, April 17, at 1 p.m., Raytown Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will plant a Tri-colored Beech tree at Kritser Park, 11707 E 75th Street, in celebration of Arbor Day and the City’s 21years as a Tree City USA designation, which is a national movement that allows the Parks Department to expand its public trees.

“It is my pleasure to recognize Raytown as a Tree City and a quality green parks system,” said Chuck Conner, MDC Community Forester. “There is a cornucopia of benefits to citizens from the cradle to the grave.”

Co-sponsored by the Raytown Garden Club, the Tri-colored Beech tree is a large stately color accent tree with incredible green, white, and pink-variegated foliage, with an average height of 30 feet. Its burgundy foliage in the summer and copper fall color and silver smooth bark has been referred to as extremely showy.

After the tree planting, Parks crews will give away free trees while supplies last.
