Rhonda Elaine Melton (1962-2024)

Rhonda exchanged her earthly home for her heavenly home on November 29th, 2024.

She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 8th, 1962 to Robert and Majorie Gipfert. Rhonda was raised in a God-fearing home in Raytown, Missouri. She had a wonderful childhood, and enjoyed playing with her older brother and sister. She especially looked forward to the yearly camping trips to Colorado at Snow Mountain Ranch.

During her time at Raytown High School, Rhonda’s one passionate love was being a part of the Raytown Jaywalkers. She began working at Worlds of Fun in the summers, and that is where she met the love of her life, DeWyane Melton. They married on March 10th, 1984.

Rhonda was the example of a very accommodating and supporting wife as she gladly followed DeWyane across the country several times while he was stationed at many different bases during his time as a United States Marine. When DeWyane retired from the Marines in 1999, they settled in Lee’s Summit, Missouri for the remainder of her life. Rhonda and DeWyane were married for 40 years.

Rhonda had the heart to please others. She spent all of her time making crafts, tea towels, and blankets for her family and friends.

Rhonda was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and great aunt. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Gipfert, her mother Marjorie Gipfert, her sister Robin Schwagerman, and her nephew Joshua Schwagerman. She is survived by her husband DeWyane Melton, her brother Ron (Debbie) Gipfert, and all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held on the 12th of December 2024 at the Gamber Center, 4 SE Independence Ave. Lee’s Summit, MO from 5:30 – 7:30.
