Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that senior Michael Ward received the first place Derrick Thomas Service Award for the Derrick Thomas/Neil Smith Third and Long Foundation. The award was announced recently at the 25th Silver Jubilee Gala at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Derrick Thomas/Neil Smith Third and Long Foundation was founded by Derrick Thomas, who was named one of the greatest pass rushers of all time and was a Chiefs defensive end. The Foundation, along with Papa John’s Pizza, recognizes a Greater Kansas City high school senior football athlete who assumes the challenge of serving his community. To be eligible, high school seniors must reflect the commitment of service.

Michael received a check for $1,500 and a Papa John’s Pizza party for the SCA Eagles Varsity Football Team.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is an independent, nondenominational Christian school serving nearly 1300 preschool-12th grade students from over 200 area churches with a college preparatory Christian education. Summit Christian Academy is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), and Cognia, and provides a college-preparatory program, along with a full range of extracurricular activities.
