The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) elementary school students united together to give almost 10,000 food items and paper goods to bless families with a meal for Thanksgiving this year, through the annual SCA Thanksgiving Food Drive. One of the core values of SCA is to Cultivate Community, and the food drive helps SCA students understand the importance of serving and helping the community.

SCA sixth grade student Aubrey Yates helped pack up some of the nearly 10,000 items donated by elementary families to bless Kansas City families with a Thanksgiving meal this season.

SCA sixth graders wrote encouraging notes, packed boxes, and loaded them onto trucks to transport the food to Courageous Life Church in Independence, Hearts and Hands in Belton, and Victory in His Presence in Kansas City. The items will be distributed through the churches to bless hundreds of Kansas City metro families for Thanksgiving.

“We are praying for the families to get the opportunity to hear the Gospel along with their physical needs being met,” shared SCA Lower Elementary Principal, Charissa Sanders. “So many people will be blessed!”

The students exceeded their overall goal of collecting 8,000 items, as the week ended with 9,952 items donated. All elementary students will be rewarded with a pajama day on Monday, November 14.
