The holiday shopping season is in full swing as dozens of businesses in Downtown Lee’s Summit prepare for Small Business Saturday on November 28th. Now in its eleventh year, Small Business Saturday is a holiday that encourages shopping at locally-owned businesses.
Thanks to Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street and the Community Improvement District, shoppers can enjoy free swag and enter to win giveaways while they shop. Participating businesses will hand out scratchers tickets and 100 lucky shoppers will win a $20 Downtown gift card. Shoppers can also pick up a Love Local tote bag with a purchase at retail locations while supplies last.
“Above all, we want our customers to feel safe while shopping downtown,” said Shara Derks, owner of Embers Candle Bar. Businesses will have “Love Local” cloth masks and hand sanitizer to hand out to customers.
“As you’re shopping for gifts and making holiday plans, please remember to love local and support our family owned businesses,” shared Donnie Rodgers, Jr., the Executive Director of Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street.
