Summit Art has moved its annual Plein Air Festival to the scenic and serene Stonehaus Farms Winery beginning Tuesday, May 28.

Stonehaus Farms Winery (24607 NE Colbern Road) offers painters and festivalgoers plenty of outdoor views of their vineyard, hills and pond as well as lush flora, charming buildings and other visual splendor. The winery is the first of four locations for this year’s Plein Air Festival, which runs May 28-June 2.

Artists will enjoy five days of painting “en plein air” at Stonehaus, in and around downtown Lee’s Summit, at the Missouri Living History Museum and finally at Powell Gardens during the Painted Garden event.

The five-day event will culminate Sunday, June 2 with entertainment and food trucks at Stonehaus Farms from noon to 5 p.m.

“The art created will be inspiring and have an impact whether you are an artist or not,” said Summit Art Board President and Plein Air Chair Sharon Wagner. “Enjoy art created by local artists at this live painting event, the live juke box that is Troubadour Retrievers, wine tasting by Stonehaus Farms and the delicious, authentic Levante Tacos Food Truck.”

Artists will compete for cash prizes, including a $1,000 Best-in-Show award. Artist Tammie Dickerson will be hosting a one-day seminar, ‘Learning how to approach the landscape with pen and ink,’ Tuesday, May 28 beginning at 9 a.m. at Missouri Town.

The public is invited to all aspects of the Plein Art Festival and each location throughout the week. The event is co-sponsored by the HB Oppenheimer Foundation.
