Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that the Junior High Speech and Debate team took first place in the small school division during their first tournament at Brittany Hill Middle School in Blue Springs.
In addition, eighth grade student Maggie Daly took third place in original oratory and eighth grade student Sam Fulton took fifth place in congress debate.
Eighth grade students Leo Butler and Elijah Zicari took first place with a 4-0 record in novice public forum and eighth grade student Isabella Gamboa and seventh grade student Finnegan Carrell took second place with a 3-1 record in novice public forum debate. The SCA teams were both 3-0 going into the finals, and debated each other for the championship.
These strong performances all contributed to SCA’s team award of first place in the small school division.
