Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that Secondary History teacher Greg Finch was named this year’s winner of the Smart/Maher Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) National Citizenship Educational Award for VFW Post 5789.

A panel of judges determined that Finch’s leadership, citizenship, and patriotism demonstrated in his classroom made him worthy of the award. As a winner of the competition, his entry will be forwarded to the VFW District 5 Commander for consideration for additional recognition at the District, State, and National level.

Himself a peacetime veteran, Finch has taught at SCA since 2001. He and his family are invited to a Patriotic Recognition Ceremony, where he will receive a plaque, certificate of recognition, and monetary prize. The Finchs will be matching the financial prize and donating it to the Wounded Warrior Foundation in memory of former SCA student and Iraq War Veteran Robert Geoffrey Long.
