New Sanitization and Social Distancing Protocols in Place to Ensure Safer Environment
Summit Lanes, which has been providing family fun and entertainment to the Lee’s Summit community since 1968, will reopen its doors to the public on Monday, June 1 after an 11-week closure that was mandated by the State of Missouri and Jackson County governments for all non-essential businesses in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.
“The health and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority,” said Brian Strickland. “Since Jackson County announced that non-essential businesses, including entertainment venues, would have the opportunity to resume full business operations, we have been conducting a comprehensive review of city, state and federal operating guidelines and how they apply to our center. Based on our review, which we have done in consultation with local health and medical professionals, we will be prepared to welcome back the public by June 1.”
During the time that Summit Lanes has been closed to the public, center management has been focused on new methods of sterilization and deep cleaning of its entire 24,000 square-foot facility located at 803 SW Oldham Pkwy. The center has also revamped and updated its operational processes and procedures to best ensure the safety of its guests and employees, including frequent sanitization of high-traffic areas and high-touch surfaces. The 24-lane center, which plans a phased approach to its opening, will initially limit the number of customers occupying its facility at any one time as it adheres to state and municipal required social distancing guidelines that are still in place.
“We have a large and spacious establishment, which will allow for us to properly place bowlers across our lanes at a safe and comfortable distance apart,” said Strickland. “We want to provide all of our bowlers with a respite during these difficult times but do so in a way that’s carefully planned in order to keep our employees and bowlers safe and healthy.”
Summit Lanes employees are temperature checked before entering the building for the start of their shift and will be wearing masks while on duty. Reservations for bowling are highly encouraged to facilitate pre-payment and minimized interactions between bowlers and employees. Credit card machines, bowling balls, rental shoes tables and chairs, and lane consoles will be sterilized between each use.
