The Avenue of Flags has been a beautiful Memorial Day tribute at the Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery, (806 SE 3rd St, Lee’s Summit, MO), since 1996. The casket flags from generations of Lee’s Summit veterans are proudly displayed by Jack Ray Post 5789 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On May 24, 2019 the storm destroyed the entire display. The storm did not destroy the flags, however it did destroy the flagpoles on which they are flown.

Thanks to the huge community support to the Jack Ray Post 5789 VFW Post, received the funds to build/purchase new reinforced poles.

Friday, May 22, 2020 with community help the VFW placed the flags around the Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

Due to social distancing, the Memorial Day Ceremony at the cemetery has been canceled.
