The Missouri State Highway Patrol announces the 32nd Annual Corporal Michael E. Webster Memorial Blood Drive. The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2 at Troop A Headquarters, located at 1900 N.E. Independence Avenue, Lee’s Summit.
This same morning, at 11 a.m., Troop A will be hosting a dedication ceremony for the new monument honoring all of Troop A’s fallen officers.
The blood drive is an annual event held to raise awareness about the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Cpl. Webster was killed on October 2, 1993, by a drunk driver while standing next to a vehicle he had stopped for a traffic violation. The Patrol, along with the Community Blood Center of Kansas City, will host the statewide blood drive to emphasize the seriousness associated with alcohol-related traffic crashes. Blood is an essential element, which may help to save the life of someone involved in a traffic crash.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the employees of Troop A would like to invite the public to come by Troop A Headquarters and donate blood. Anyone who would like to donate blood can call (877) 468-6844 or visit www.savealifenow.org/group and enter Group Code “BI” to schedule an appointment.
