Unity Village is opening an event center at the UV Campus. The R.D. Goppert will officially open on Thursday, January 9. There is an opening reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The R.D. Goppert Event Center, a 23,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, flexible venue is designed to host 350-1,000 people. The center, conveniently located on Unity Village campus, will be used for corporate events, concerts, fundraisers, graduations, galas, trade shows, celebrations, and weddings. Bookings are now available.
Originally operating as the Activities Center, Unity Village had a growing need for a larger event space that would function more easily for a wider range of events compared to its existing conference center, ballrooms, training rooms, and outdoor venues.
“The larger, adaptable, R.D. Goppert Event Center will allow diversified event options not previously available on our campus,” said Jim Blake, CEO of Unity Worldwide Headquarters at Unity Village. “We’ve become a catalyst for the community by providing spaces that empower organizations to connect people through events and activities. Kansas City, and the broader Midwest region, is better served when versatile, inclusive accommodations are available,” Blake added.
The R.D. Goppert Event Center is named in honor of the late Richard Dean Goppert, founder of the Goppert Banks and Foundation. Goppert was a banker and philanthropist in Kansas City, Missouri, who believed in reinvesting earnings back into the community. The new space offers customizable features that elevate any event, such as flexible dining options and in-house concert-quality sound, staging, and lighting.
