Unity Village Hotel and Conference Center has been recognized with a gold award from Choice Hotels. The award, based on guest satisfaction ratings, is given to properties within the top 10 percent of each of the hotel group’s brands. The Choice Hotels network includes more than 7,000 hotels—representing nearly 570,000 rooms—in more than 40 countries and territories. The Unity Village hotel is part of the Ascend brand of Choice Hotels properties, a network of one-of-a-kind upscale properties that reflect the distinct character of their cities. This is the first year the hotel was eligible for an award, and it joins just seven other Ascend properties nationwide with the distinction.
“It’s a great honor being selected with other Ascend hotels in the boutique category, especially in our first year of eligibility,” says Bobby Kyser, vice president of hospitality.
Brandi French, hotel manager, attributes the hotel’s success to a special emphasis on customer service and cleanliness. She says, “We know what an amazing property we have, and we are excited to share it with new and returning guests.”
Each room features queen-size beds, fine linens, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi access. Guests also receive a complimentary hot breakfast, free parking and access to prayer gardens, chapels and the fitness center. Opened in 2006, the hotel is one of the first green hotels in the U.S., with LEED-certification, energy-efficient operating systems and refined air quality. Located on Unity Village’s stunning campus, the hotel property includes a nine-hole golf course, 2.4-mile walking trail and bookstore/coffee shop.
The 100-year-old Unity Village township boasts 1,200 wooded acres, the largest fountain display in the Kanas City metro area, an award-winning rose garden, and two buildings that are included on the National Register of Historic Places. The wide-open spaces and distinctive Mediterranean architecture create a tranquil atmosphere that is reflected in the uplifting and inspirational design of the hotel rooms.
Unity Village is also home to Fillmore Manor, a 1921 English Cotswold-style home available for reservations through Airbnb. The two-story house has been recently renovated and comfortably accommodates up to 10 people.
Located just outside Kansas City, Missouri, the hotel has convenient access to the metropolitan area as well as a robust shopping and dining center just minutes away. While once considered a hidden gem, the hotel has become a popular choice for business travelers and a perfect option for weddings, retreats and events.
