Unity Village is excited to announce a new partnership with PB&J Restaurants, a locally-owned and operated company focused on serving healthy options and farm-fresh locally grown foods.

“Events large and small at Unity Village bring visitors from across the region,” said Guy Swanson, president and COO of Unity World Headquarters. “This new partnership will elevate our food and beverage offerings for all who visit.”

PB&J will provide on-site catering services for events at Unity Village, such as weddings, corporate meetings, memorial services, and spiritual retreats, and for guests staying at the award-winning hotel and Airbnbs on grounds.

“This new partnership brings sophistication and creativity to our food and beverage services and creates a complete package of services for visitors and guests,” Swanson said. “We’ve just completed our first few events, and guests have raved about the food.”

“PB&J Restaurants and Catering has been providing chef-driven culinary experiences in the Kansas City area for more than 30 years,” said Austin DeForest, operations manager for PB&J. “Signature restaurant concepts such as YaYa’s Euro Bistro, Burnt End BBQ, and Newport Grill inspire much of what we do. And with our extensive background in the restaurant industry, we are able to offer impeccable hospitality to all of our guests.”

This partnership is one in a string of recent achievements at Unity Village. The Unity Village Hotel and Conference Center recently received the Ring of Honor Award by Choice Hotels.

“Our hotel reached the No. 1 position nationally in the ‘likelihood to recommend’ category based on guest ratings,” Swanson said. “Visitors frequently tell us that our hotel offers a peaceful, clean, welcoming hotel experience. It’s perfect for people attending an event on grounds or for those who want a staycation in the Kansas City area.”

While following the latest county guidance and safety protocols, some areas of Unity Village have reopened in a limited capacity after closures because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel and Airbnbs are now open for bookings, and the nine-hole golf course and Bookstore and Coffee Shop have also restarted services.

Corporate meetings, memorials, and smaller weddings have now resumed on campus, but many in-person retreats are still postponed.

For this reason, Swanson’s team is launching a new line of virtual experiences to complement the in-person retreats program. The first event, Affirm Your Way to a Better Life, will be a virtual prayer experience taking place on Zoom, July 17–18, 2020.

“Participants will learn practical ways to incorporate affirmative prayer into daily life,” Swanson said, “something that is needed now more than ever.”
