Admission to the Lee’s Summit History Museum will be free for veterans and active military on Veterans Day, November 11.
A special tribute to veterans is on display at the History Museum now through the end of November. The exhibit includes Lee’s Summit veterans’ uniforms for each branch of military service.
Artwork from current Lee’s Summit resident, Sgt. S.J. Stout, is also on display. Stout is a retired 20 year veteran of the U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy. He was an artist for the military newspaper Stars & Stripes. Some of his work is on display at the National Stars & Stripes Museum/Library in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Stout will be at the History Museum from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, November 11th and Saturday, November 12th.
The History Museum is located at 220 SW Main Street in downtown Lee’s Summit. Current hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
