The Kansas City Chiefs goal of making NFL history in becoming back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl Champions is off to great start as the team enters its bye week with a 5-0 record. The Chiefs for the 12th straight season have a five game winning streak which is an NFL first. Week 6 of the NFL season shows only the Chiefs and the NFC’s Minnesota Vikings left as undefeated teams.

This is the first 5-0 start to a season since 2018 Mahomes’ first season as a starter. To reach this point the Chiefs had to beat two AFC teams they recently defeated in AFC title games. Win a sixth straight game over an AFC West rival and win on a Thursday, Sunday and a Monday Night. The Chiefs determination continues to impress fans across the country.

Once the Chiefs return to work they will face obstacles and challenges they must overcome to win a ninth straight AFC West Division title on the way to another Super Bowl appearance. In addition to playing division rivals they play San Francisco and Tampa Bay two teams the Chiefs have met in recent Super Bowl games. In late December the schedule shows three games to play in just 11 games including one on Christmas Day.

To continue this run of success the Chiefs may have to depend on a cast of characters that was not part of the team’s plans for the 2024 season. In just five weeks the Chiefs have lost both of their starting wide receivers Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice most likely for the rest of the season. Adding to the misery is the loss of starting running back Isiah Pacheco until a possible post-season return. The Chiefs have shown to be resourceful in bringing back former players JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kareem Hunt to step in for the injured starters with no fall off in offensive production.

No matter who the Chiefs are playing and whoever may be in the lineup fans can expect the team to be a tough out for opposing teams. Thanks to a championship culture and a veteran group of players the Chiefs have already made some history this season in just five games. Don’t be surprised if more history will be written by this 2024 edition of the Chiefs. That’s What I REID Into It for this season.
