Thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs win at Carolina on Sunday the Chiefs completed a 4-0 sweep over the NFC South Division teams. Now the Chiefs return to action in the AFC West against Las Vegas in the hope to keep a perfect record in the division. Yes it’s a Raiders Week in Chiefs Kingdom where the Chiefs look to sweep their long time division rival.
The Chiefs enter at 10-1 and off from a 30-27 win at Carolina, while the Raiders lost to Denver 29-19 on Sunday and come to KC with a 2-9 mark. In the loss the Raiders saw their starting QB Gardner Minshew leave the game with a season ending injury to his collarbone. In his place is Desmond Ridder and possibly Aiden O’Connell who hasn’t played since week seven of the season due to an injury.
Despite a short week with only five days in place of the normal seven to prepare and talk up another game against the Raiders there has been the normal amount of chatter about the two teams and the long running rivalry. The Chiefs have won eight out of the last 10 meetings vs the Raiders, including the last one when the Chiefs beat the Raiders 27-20 in Las Vegas leading up to Halloween. However the last meeting at Arrowhead saw the Raiders win on Christmas Day.
Thanks to the road win last Sunday the Chiefs returned to the victory column and secured yet another 10 win season. The talk this week was the return of a few key players such as starting RB Isiah Pacheco and DE Charles Omenihu. Both players practiced on Tuesday without limitations which means the players could be activated and see some playing time real soon.
While this rivalry isn’t new, playing this game on a Black Friday is an NFL first. The Thursday night football crew of Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit will be on hand to call the game to a nationwide audience. What the country will see is two teams heading in opposite directions and a Chiefs team who remembers their 2023 Christmas Day loss. On this Black Friday the Chiefs will beat a team wearing silver and black. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
