Last week the Kansas City Chiefs clinched a playoff spot in the AFC playoffs for the tenth straight season. This week with a win the Chiefs will clinch a ninth straight AFC West Division title. Every week the Chiefs knock one more item off their 2024 wish list but it hasn’t been easy to do. This week’s matchup against division rival LA Chargers is not an easy task and will be seen in primetime.
The first place Chiefs enter at 11-1 after a nail-biting win over rival Las Vegas 19-17. The Chargers come to town in second place in the AFC West and holders of an 8-4 mark. Last week the Chargers were a success on the road claiming a 17-13 win over Atlanta. These two longtime rivals met earlier this season in week four in a game played in LA. The Chiefs came away with a hard fought 17-10 win that Sunday afternoon.
Like once before this season the Chiefs and their fans will have to wait till Sunday night to see them play in front of a national TV audience. Sunday Night Football in America on NBC is bringing their number one crew of Mike Tirico and Chris Collinsworth to broadcast the latest version of this long standing rivalry. The Chiefs take the field looking for their seventh straight win over the Chargers.
Now that it’s December and this late into the season injuries will play a part in the outcome. On Wednesday the Chiefs put K Spencer Shrader on the injured reserve list means he will miss the next four weeks. Starting PK Harrison Butker is scheduled to return for the team’s next game in Cleveland on December 15. The Chargers injury woes on Wednesday was the announcement that leading receiver Ladd McConkey was limited in practice.
It’s a prime time show under the bright lights, it’s Harbaugh vs Reid and Mahomes vs Herbert. Expect another low scoring affair ending with a similar result as the Chiefs get their division title thanks to another hard fought win over the Chargers. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
