The Kansas City Chiefs are in a familiar spot as they kick off a playoff run they hope will end at Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Chiefs are the AFC top-seeded team and will play a familiar foe in the AFC South Division Champion Houston Texans. The Chiefs beat Houston 27-19 in a regular season meeting played in Kansas City on Saturday, Dec. 21.

The Chiefs enter this AFC Divisional round playoff game at 15-2 while the Texans come in at 11-7 after a 32-12 win over the LA Chargers last week. No matter who the Chiefs play in the AFC playoffs it would be a familiar opponent as they played every AFC playoff team during the regular season. The Chiefs have enjoyed success versus Houston as they lead their series 10-5 and have won four games in a row.

Even the network announcers for the game will be familiar as Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will provide coverage for ESPN. Former KC Chiefs play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan will broadcast the game on a national radio network.

The Chiefs and Texans have similar stats among their starters. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 3,928 yards while Texans QB CJ Stroud is right behind him at 3,727. The Texans do have both a 1,000 yard rusher (Joe Mixon) and a 1,000 yard receiver (Nico Collins).

On Thursday both teams announced an updated injury report and the Chiefs KR Mecole Hardman was listed as doubtful. CB Jaylen Watson was listed as questionable as he hopes to return after a 12 week absence. The Texans leading rusher Joe Mixon was limited in the team’s practice and is questionable.

Lots of talk about the Chiefs starters rest or rust after having 24 days off since their Christmas day win in Pittsburgh. The Chiefs players will benefit from the layoff and will show it soon after kickoff. The Chiefs have already defeated Houston on a Saturday inside Arrowhead Stadium this season. The Chiefs will give everyone a familiar outcome as they win another playoff game on their home field. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
