Anyone will tell you when going into an important meeting it helps to have an experienced team on your side. The meeting in this case is the 2025 AFC Championship football game as the defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs play host to the Buffalo Bills.
Both the Chiefs and Bills know each other well, having met in the regular season and post-season a lot since 2020. The 2024 NFL season was no different as the Chiefs visited Buffalo for a regular season game and lost 30-21. Now it’s the post-season and this matchup takes place in Kansas City. The Chiefs are 1-4 against the Bills during the regular season but a perfect 3-0 in the post-season since 2020. Chiefs fans will recall well the last two games taking place in the divisional round in 2021 and 2023. Last January 21st in Buffalo the Chiefs came away with a well-earned 27-24 victory. The Chiefs lead the playoff series overall at 4-2.
Not only are the teams and their rabid fanbases experienced at this stage of the post-season but so are the TV crew covering the game. CBS will show the game nationally with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call. A nationwide radio broadcast will feature play-by-play by former KC Chiefs announcer Kevin Harlan.
The Chiefs enter this AFC title game with a mark of 16-2, the Bills come to KC at 15-4. The Chiefs won the AFC West Division while the Bills won the AFC East title. Each team is happy with the play of their franchise QB as the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 3,928 yards while Bills Josh Allen is right behind him at 3,731.
By the time the Chiefs and Bills kick off they will know who the NFC team is that will be making the trip to Super Bowl 59 in two weeks. Both the Chiefs and Bills very much want to win and join them in New Orleans. The Chiefs wish for a three-peat while the Bills wish to win their first league title.
Since the Chiefs loss up in Buffalo, Mahomes and the Chiefs have no turnovers and the Bills thrive on getting them as they scored two INT’s off Mahomes in that nine-point win. The Chiefs defense gave up a game clinching rushing TD to Allen. Since then the Chiefs D has gotten healthy and secured eight sacks in last week’s win over Houston. The Bills in Buffalo gave the Chiefs their first loss on the season and now in KC the Chiefs will hand the Bills their last loss of the season. The Chiefs journey to a three-peat continues with another AFC title in hand. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
