Everyone loves a Super Bowl Sunday and for Kansas City Chiefs fans this year’s game has an added value of the Chiefs going for a three-peat. The time has come for the Chiefs to pass their final test in what has been a season long goal to make NFL history by winning a third straight Super Bowl. A familiar foe awaits as the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFC Champion, last appeared in a Super Bowl two years ago and lost to the Chiefs by just three points.
The Kansas City Chiefs enter Super Bowl 59 with a 17-2 record and coming off from a nail-biting 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills. The Eagles come into the big game with a 17-3 mark and blew past Washington 55-23 last week to get to this point. The Eagles remember well the feeling after losing to the Chiefs 38-35 in this big game in 2023. The Eagles defense gave up 17 fourth quarter points on their way to a tough loss. A great number of players are still with the Eagles from that game and now look for a different outcome.
While the Chiefs better be concerned with QB Jalen Hurts and other veterans on the Eagles roster it’s the new Eagles players that may prove to be the difference this time. One newcomer is RB Saquon Barkley who ran for 2,005 yards this regular season. Another new member of the Eagles family is second year DE Jalen Carter. Containing these two and limiting their production will go a long way to another Chiefs Super Bowl victory.
The last injury report provided by the teams before game day was on Thursday and both teams listed they are healthy and ready to go. That’s good news for the Chiefs as they look to give RB Kareem Hunt and veteran WR DeAndrew Hopkins their first Super Bowl title.
Some times in big games it’s the little details that end up being the most important. The Chiefs are champions of those details. An example in the regular season was the blocked field goal against Denver that led to a Chiefs victory. In the post-season the Chiefs knew what side of the line Bills QB Josh Allen would go on a two point conversion that came up short.
The Chiefs won their ninth straight AFC Western Division title and made it to their seventh consecutive AFC title game this season. Expect the Chiefs to use some small detail to make a BIG play and give the franchise their third straight Super Bowl trophy. That’s What I REID Into It for this Super Bowl Sunday.
