Plenty of confetti fell onto the field at Arrowhead Stadium following the conclusion of the AFC Championship game, a game the Kansas City Chiefs won 35-24. There were plenty of smiles on the faces of Chiefs players, coaches, staff and especially the owner Clark Hunt. With this BIG win in franchise history the team is headed to their first Super Bowl in 50 years.
Much like the confetti that was cleared off the field after the celebration or picked up as a memento and safely put away it’s time to put those thoughts behind us as there is one more game for the team to be played. There is one more championship to win and the focus is now on that prize a Super Bowl Championship.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has been hard at work this week preparing a game plan that he hopes will be successful on Sunday, Feb. 2. The Chiefs staff has been busy working on logistics for next week’s many events in Miami the site of this year’s Super Bowl. Schedules are being finalized, practices being set and the always important media appearances leading up to Game Day. Both the Chiefs and their opponent San Francisco 49ers are flying to Miami on Sunday, Jan. 26 and from there it will be a busy time getting ready to play a game the following Sunday inside Hard Rock Stadium normally the home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.
Much like their favorite team, most of Kansas City is scrambling around deciding on location of their watch party. Then following up with what they need for a successful event much like the Chiefs are preparing a successful game plan. There are many Kansas City Chiefs fans that have a trip to Miami in the near future and they are planning when to leave KC, where to stay in south Florida and things to do before Game Day.
Needless to say there is plenty to do before Super Bowl Sunday, an unofficial holiday in the United States. When the day arrives the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs will play the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers a team they have plenty of history with. The Chiefs feature a high flying and high scoring offense while the 49ers feature a stout and shutdown defense. We will take a longer look at the teams and what to expect in the game itself next week.
For now Chiefs fans as they prepare and plan for this momentous day keep in mind Super Bowl 54 will end the 100th NFL season. It’s also the 50th Super Bowl in the modern era. Every :30 second commercial you will see costs a record $5.6 million dollars. The game will be televised this year on the FOX TV network and kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 2. There is so much to do this week because there is so much to see next weekend. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
