The defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs return to Arrowhead to host the New England Patriots. The Chiefs have been away from their home field for 24 days but to most Chiefs fans it seems a lot longer. Since winning the season opener vs Houston the Chiefs concerned many members of their fan base by escaping Los Angeles with an overtime win and last week left Baltimore with an easy 34-20 win.

Now that the Chiefs have traveled to the west and east coasts they turn their attention to another key AFC battle against a team known for winning… and winning a lot. The Patriots are not the same team Chiefs fans have seen before as Brady’s Bunch has been replaced by Cam’s Crew. While Bill Belichick remains the Patriots Head Coach the team has moved on from QB Tom Brady and now lean on QB Cam Newton to lead them.

Despite these off-season changes, the Patriots come to Kansas City looking good so far in 2020 with a record of 2-1. The team’s only loss came on the road and Newton’s play so far gives the impression he has been a Patriot for a lot longer. A Chiefs/Patriots game is still considered a marquee matchup as CBS is bringing their #1 crew to cover it in Jim Nantz and Tony Romo. The Chiefs and Patriots will meet for the fourth consecutive season but this is the first time in Kansas City. The Chiefs won in both 2019 and 2017 while the Patriots won in OT in 2018.

The Chiefs come into the match up at 3-0 and looking to go 4-0 for the fourth consecutive year. The Chiefs are riding a 12-game winning streak which includes post-season games. Last week the Chiefs celebrated having the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, this week they are celebrating QB Pat Mahomes being named the AFC offensive player of the week. For Mahomes it’s the fourth time in his career to be given this honor.

Come game time on Sunday the Chiefs will have to overcome the absence of CB Bashaud Breeland who is still serving a four game NFL suspension and L Jarius Sneed due to a broken collarbone injury suffered last week.

So far in 2020 the Kansas City Chiefs have beaten the defending AFC North Division Champions in Baltimore, The AFC South Division Champions in Houston and now look to win against the AFC East Division Champions in New England. The Chiefs are playing well right now on offense and defense while the Patriots are still adjusting to their new pieces which means the Chiefs will get another win vs New England. On Sunday the Chiefs will see a 4-0 record when they leave the field. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
