Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos have seen their fair share of ups and downs already this 2019 season. Following these two AFC West rivals must feel like getting up each day to check on an important stock. Both teams have given their fan base something to enjoy and something to worry about.
The Chiefs won their first four games to open the season while Denver lost their first four. Denver is now enjoying the results of winning back to back games to enter tonight’s game at 2-4. The Chiefs dropped back to back home games and now have concerns entering the game at 4-2.
Looking at each team’s injury report is another way for fans to deal with the ups and downs of an NFL season. Denver is expected to get WR Emanuel Sanders and DE Derek Wolfe back from the injured list. The Chiefs list has been growing and looks like it will remain the same size for this short week. Expected to miss action tonight is T Eric Fisher, G Andrew Wylie, WR Sammy Watkins, DE Chris Jones and DB Kendrick Fuller.
The Broncos are in their first season under Vic Fangio a known defensive guru. Fangio knows his group is going up against the fifth ranked NFL offense. The Chiefs under a first year defensive coordinator knows they must stop Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay who is averaging nearly 100 yards a game.
One thing that hasn’t been up and down lately has been the Chiefs/Broncos rivalry now in its 60th season. The two teams have met 118 times and the Chiefs have won seven straight in the series, including the last four in Denver. A key to watch will be if the Chiefs score 27 points a number the Chiefs have exceeded in every win since 2015.
Longtime Chiefs fans have wonderful memories of a prime time Chiefs at Broncos game that was played on Oct 17, 1994. That was a Monday night game where the Chiefs led by QB Joe Montana had a comeback win for the ages. Tonight Chiefs fans will see highlights of that game while they are enjoying the results of another Oct. 17 prime time game in Denver this one on a Thursday night. Chiefs fans will feel their stock rise thanks to another exciting hard fought win in this long running series. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
