The 2024 Kansas City Chiefs achieved every goal it set out to except the very last one which was a third straight Super Bowl Championship.
While the disappointment of losing their final game on a big stage the team from players, coaches and yes its giant fanbase has a lot to love when looking back at the season in review.
For the second straight season the Chiefs played the first and the last game of the NFL season which means they kicked off the new season at Arrowhead an honor bestowed to the defending Super Bowl Champions. It also means the Chiefs ended a 20-game season again in the Super Bowl which is a large accomplishment in itself. The Chiefs finished up at 17-3 which included a franchise record 15 regular season wins.
The Chiefs opened the ’24 season with nine straight wins en route to a ninth straight AFC West Division title. Once in the post-season the Chiefs made it to their seventh straight AFC title game and successfully returned as host of the game after having played on the road last season. Despite a regular season schedule that saw the Chiefs play on every day of the week except for Tuesday the Chiefs still managed to play well enough to secure the AFC playoffs number one seed and a bye week.
While the sting of a Super Bowl loss may linger for a while it’s easy to see the Chiefs still reached a number of goals and yes made NFL and franchise history as they reached them. Now it’s on to 2025 and the challenges the new year season will bring. We know for now that the Chiefs will have nine home games with teams like Baltimore, Houston and a Super Bowl rematch vs Philadelphia among them. The Chiefs’ eight road games will include trips to each AFC West Division rival plus AFC playoff rival Buffalo and Dallas.
The 2025 season will come into better focus after the new NFL season kicks off on March 12th. Following all the free agent movement the NFL Draft is April 24-26 weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In early May the league will reveal the 2025 NFL game schedule. Then Chiefs fans can expect all the fun of a new season to kick off over the September 7th weekend. No surprise to Chiefs followers if it’s another franchise history making season. That’s What I Reid Into It for this off-season.
