Councilmembers are in for a long evening at tonight’s City Council meeting due to a packed agenda. Items on the agenda include public hearings on proposed developments in downtown and in New Longview, as well as the preliminary and conceptual development plan for Fire Station No.3.

• City Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed preliminary development plan for Kessler View, a mixed- use development located at SW Kessler Drive and SW Fascination Drive in New Longview. The proposed mixed-use development includes a daycare, restaurant, flexible event space, retail space and offices. Following the public hearing, City Council will vote on an ordinance approving the proposed preliminary development plan.

• City Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed preliminary development plan for a two-story commercial building at 222 SW Main Street and a surface parking lot at 207 SW Market Street in downtown Lee’s Summit. The building would be located on the former City Hall lot adjacent to the Historical Museum. The proposed use of the building is a Reece Nichols real estate office. Following the public hearing, City Council will vote on an ordinance approving the proposed preliminary development plan.

• City Council will hold a public hearing on the rezoning of 27.97 acres from RP-3 (Planned Residential Mixed Use District) to PMIX (Planned Mixed Use District, as well as the preliminary development plan and conceptual development plan for a new 16,050-square-foot fire station. The new fire station would replace existing Fire Station No. 3 just south of this location at SW Third Street and SW Pryor Road. The construction of Fire Station No. 3 is part of the public safety improvements approved by voters in the November 8, 2016 no-tax increase bond election. Following the public hearing, City Council will vote on an ordinance approving the rezoning, preliminary development plan and conceptual plan.
