A preliminary development plan for a new station to replace Lee’s Summit Fire Station 3, currently located on SW Third Street. At 16,050 square feet, with facilities to house 24-hour fire protection and EMS personnel, it will be a significant upgrade. Dedicated in 1971, the current station has two bays and totals about 1,000 square feet.

The new station will include four bays and can accommodate two companies, which will allow for future expansion. It will be located on about 30 acres of land at 300 NW Pryor Road, near the recently approved Woodside Ridge housing development.

The proposal also includes a conceptual portion, indicating potential development for banks, medical and office space, retail, and a grocery store. Any development beyond the fire station will require its own preliminary development plan for approval by both the planning commission and the city council.

The council approved the fire station with a unanimous vote. Councilmembers Craig Faith and Diane Forte were absent from the Sept. 20 meeting.
