In communities across Kansas City, the 65+ age population is growing – and Raytown is no exception. The health needs of individuals become more complex as they age, and seniors may need more help navigating their personal health journeys. For this reason, Humana, Walgreens and Partners in Primary Care have teamed up to bring senior-focused care and health resources to Raytown residents.

The location at 9300 E Gregory Blvd is one of two Walgreens locations in the Kansas City area to open a Partners in Primary Care center, which provides seniors on Medicare plans with access to board-certified primary care physicians.

At Partners in Primary Care, conveniently located adjacent to the store, physicians specialize in senior and geriatric care and aim to develop long-term relationships with seniors living with chronic conditions. In addition, this location also offers a Health Resources by Humana information station, bringing high-quality, senior-focused primary care, pharmacy support and health resources under one roof.

There are now five Health Resources by Humana stations at Walgreens locations around the Kansas City area.

The collaboration between Humana, Walgreens and Partners in Primary Care aims to connect Kansas City seniors with high-quality healthcare resources in convenient, neighborhood locations.

“A lot of seniors have a little trouble traveling distances, and so we try to give them what they need close to home in their neighborhood,” said Dr. Austin Welsh, Partners in Primary Care physician. The connection between Kansas City and healthy aging is clear, with Humana currently offering health-related programming and resources to more than 65,000 Medicare Advantage and Medicare stand-alone Part D Prescription Drug plan members in the area.

To mark the grand openings, Mayor Sylvester “Sly” James proclaimed Kansas City “Care City, USA: The Hometown of Healthy Aging” on October 16.

At the Raytown grand opening of the Partners in Primary Care location on October 17, the community came out to celebrate. In addition to touring the new center, attendees participated in a health-oriented experience that went beyond traditional medicine to support healthy aging, including an exhibit featuring augmented-reality technology and historical photographs of Kansas City designed to help seniors recall memories from the city’s proud past.

The festivities also featured health-related games, SilverSneakers™ fitness class demonstrations, and information for Raytown residents looking to focus on all aspects of their health.
