The City of Lee’s Summit is holding an open house Dec. 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gamber Community Center to receive public feedback on proposed land use designations for the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Gamber Community Center is located at 4 SE Independence Ave.

The City’s Comprehensive Plan is used as a guide for short-term and long-term land development, public infrastructure improvement needs, and public facility and service provisions. Recent annexations have left parcels of land without proper designations.

The parcels of land not currently designated include an area north of Woods Chapel Road and east of Lakewood Way; an area near Blackwell Road and U.S. 50; and an area south of County Line Road near Pryor Road. A map highlighting the draft designations can be found on the City’s website under “Planning and Special Projects.”

The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public to review draft designations and provide feedback, which will be utilized as the City works to finalize its proposal. City employees will be in attendance to answer any questions. There is no formal presentation, and residents can come and go as schedules allow.

Once the City has finalized its proposal, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Jan. 10, 2019 and will vote on a resolution to adopt the designations.
