Kyle Anthony Horton joined Boy Scouts in April 2013. He earned his Tenderfoot rank in June of that year. In 2014 he earned Second Class in May, First Class in July and Star in December. He became a Life Scout in June of 2015. Kyle earned his Eagle Scout in September 2018. Additionally hear earned a Silver Eagle Palm and 2nd Bronze Palm

During his time in Scouting, Kyle served his Troop as Quartermaster, Den Chief and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.

He attended summer camp at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation where he began the trail of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say honor camping program as a Foxman in 2015. He was called to join the Tribe the following summer as a Brave and chose the family name Son of Fierce Copper Serpent. In 2017 he was elevated to the rank of Warrior and this past summer was given the additional responsibility of Firebuilder.

Additionally, Kyle earned the 12-Month Camper Award, Arrow of Light and National Outdoor Award-Camping.

Kyle’s Eagle Scout Service Project, in cooperation with the City of Lee’s Summit Public Works Department, was to stencil over 100 of the city storm drains with the “Save Our Stream” logo. This environmental project is designed to remind the city residents to protect our stream and storm drain systems from litter and is part of a national program designed to protect our fresh water streams and rivers. A total of 98 services hours were completed as a part of this project.
