On April 2, Lee’s Summit voters will cast their ballots to elect new LSR-7 School Board Members. The Chamber is hosting a Candidate Forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at the Missouri Innovation Campus, 1101 NW Innovation Pkwy.

The forum offers a great opportunity to meet the candidates and learn more about their stances on certain issues. Eight candidates have filed to run for two available three-year terms on the Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education. The candidates vying for seats are:

• Michael D. Allen

• Bill Birmingham, Jr.

• Kathy Campbell

• Paul Dornon

• Judy C. Hedrick

• Michael McMenus

• Don Olson, Jr.

• Amy Turgon

“The quality of our schools is one of the primary reasons Lee’s Summit is such a desirable place to live. The Lee’s Summit Chamber is honored to host an event where the public can learn more about the potential future leaders of the R-7 school district. We congratulate each of the school board candidates on their decision to run,” said Chamber President Blake Fry.

The forum is free and open to the public, and also will be live streamed on the Chamber’s Facebook page for those unable to attend. The Chamber urges residents to learn more about the candidates running and make an educated vote on April 2. The deadline to register to vote is March 6. Contact Matt Baird at mbaird@lschamber.com for more information.
