On Friday, April 19, 2019, at 4:13 a.m. the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 435 SW Sunset Drive. The occupant of the house reported a fire in the garage.

When the fire department arrived, fire was coming through the roof of the attached garage of a one-story, single family residence. The occupants of the house were safe outside. Firefighters entered the house and attacked the fire, containing it to the garage and attic. A search of the house confirmed no one was inside. The incident was under control by 4:47 a.m.

There was extensive fire damage to the attached garage and attic. The ceilings in portions of the living area were removed to access the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
