This morning at approximately 7:00 a.m officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of NE Ridgeview on the report of a shooting.

Officers are still in the area as of 8:00 a.m. checking for a suspect and gathering information regarding the incident. 

Nearby schools on Colbern Road were put on lockdown as a precaution.

The single victim has serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

More information will be released once we are able to conduct our on-scene investigation.

UPDATE – 10:30 a.m. – Suspect is not in custody at this time. Officers are maintaining control of the residence in the 1700 block of Ridgeview where the shooting occurred to gather evidence and provide containment / security. The school district is working with us to keep the school facilities in the area safe; they will remain on restricted movement for the rest of the day.
UPDATE – 2:00 p.m. – Suspect not in custody; our Emergency Services Squad is conducting a search of the residence where the shooting occurred right now. Due to this fact, the district is working with parents and kids to make sure that children who live in the neighborhoods south of the incident get home safely. Buses will dismiss and transport as normal, children who walk in the affected area will be picked up by parents at the school.
UPDATE – 4:00 p.m. – As of 3:45 pm today our investigation into this morning’s shooting has progressed. As stated earlier, the suspect was known to the victim; the two were related. We have completed our search of the address where the shooting happened in the 1700 block of NE Ridgeview. The suspect at this time remains at large and we have identified him. While the search of the house was completed today we worked with the nearby schools to ensure that all children got home safely and without incident. Detectives will continue working on the investigation and locating the suspect in this case.
