For too long, the Lee’s Summit R7 School District has neglected to effectively combat and prevent discrimination of all forms within the educational community. Their mission is to “prepare each student for success in life”, yet this cannot occur until every student is able to learn in a safe and respectful environment. Now, we demand change.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, please join us as we come together as a city to show support for the current and past LSR7 students who have experienced discrimination within Lee’s Summit schools and to express our demands to create a safer and inclusive academic environment. As residents of Lee’s Summit, we must work together to fight all discrimination present within our schools.

At 4:30 p.m., we are hosting a poster making event at Lea McKeighan Park, 125 NE Chipman Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. All supplies will be provided by community organizers. The community demonstration will take place at 5 p.m. at the Tony L. Stansberry Leadership Center, 301 N.E. Tudor Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086. Both of these events will occur rain or shine.

If you are unable to attend, please read the experiences of discrimination students have shared on twitter through #OurStruggleLSR7, our requests to LSR7, and sign the petition in support of our demands.
