Calling all adventurers, gamers and comic book enthusiasts to visit the new Mindgames & Magic now open in Lee’s Summit at 206 SE 2nd street Suite B.
The new store has two owners in Dru Newman and Eddie Pease along with three staffers who are happy to help you find what you are looking for. All three staffers have their own specialty to assist shopper’s chances to locate that hard to find item they wish for. The store features a demo shelf where visitors are welcome to “try it before you buy it.”
Co-owner Eddie Pease says the goal is “providing a safe place for enthusiasts to enjoy their hobbies.” The hobby store is nearly 3,000 square feet in total size providing 1,600 square feet of retail space and almost 1,400 square feet of game space.
Mindgames & Magic hosts weekly tournaments and is open seven days a week. Mondays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays open later till 10 p.m. Weekends finds the store open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
A big day already for the new business came on Saturday, Jul. 10 when over 800 people came through during an open house weekend in Downtown Lee’s Summit. More recently the store had a booth at Planet Comicon the weekend of Aug. 20-22. The booth offered the chance to host a board game cafe with over 500 games to try before you buy.
The hobby store is open to helping local artists. Local art is on display in the game space area and a local artists’ showcase was recently held for dice bags for example.
