The Heart of America Youth Ballet (HAYB), located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, will perform full-length productions of The Nutcracker ballet December 18 and 19 at Raytown High School. The shows include six performances over two days.

The Nutcracker is a famous holiday performance since it’s told during Christmastime. The two-act ballet includes eight scenes and over 100 HAYB trained dancers of all ages. Favorite scenes include a Christmas party, a Nightmare Scene and a journey through the Kingdom of the Sweets.

In addition to The Nutcracker shows, HAYB will continue the tradition of performing excerpts from the ballet at their annual tea parties. The Heart of America Dance Centre, located at 220 SE Douglas St, Lees Summit, Missouri, will host the tea parties November 13 and 14. The parties are an excellent opportunity to get a sampling of the full-length shows, including costume design and choreography. The Nutcracker ballet shows are Saturday, December 18 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 19 at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. All performances are at Raytown High School, 6019 Blue Ridge Blvd. Audience members of all ages are welcome.
